Whether the duke of Zhou interprets the dream is credible

Modern dream interpretation belongs to the scientific category of research, 'dream analysis' is based on the principle of psychodynamics, emphasizing the social and cultural background of dreams, the mutual relationship between dreams and reality, to help people solve inner contradictions, improve people's mental state.

There are many dream stories circulating in ancient China. It is not so much the dream of the ancients as the fable of the ancients. Because many of these dream stories are not dreams, but made up by the ancients to convey their thoughts, the general classification of ancient Chinese dream stories can be divided into the following categories.

Life is like a dream: represented by the famous story of Zhuangzhou's dream butterfly. The dream was very simple. Zhuang Zhou dreamed that he was a butterfly. When he woke up, he posed a difficult philosophical question: 'Did Zhuang Zhou dream that he had changed into a butterfly, or did the butterfly dream that he had changed into Zhuang Zhou?' From a phenomenological point of view, we really have no way to distinguish between these two hypotheses.

The theory of ancient dream interpretation is non-scientific, but this does not mean that ancient dream interpretation is useless, because the ancient people can intuitively understand the meaning of some dreams in their life experience, and can also find the meaning of some common symbols, and even some of their dream interpretation methods are in line with psychological principles. But most of them seem to smack of fatalism. Because of this, this kind of dream dictionary often contradicts itself, such as saying 'dreaming of snakes and tigers is precious', 'dreaming of snakes in the way of good luck', and then saying 'dreaming of snakes as a dish of the house is uneasy' these interpretations of dreams, to a certain extent, there is still some truth. For example, 'Dreaming that you are blind indicates that you should not trust your relatives and friends, nor your wife and children.' We know that among the many meanings of dreaming of blindness, there is indeed a 'blind trust in others.'

What is a dream? Before the advent of psychoanalytic theory, the scientific community denied that dreams had any meaning. Of course, the scientific community at the time had an explanation for dreams -- it had an explanation for everything. Science is about nature. A systematic interpretive activity of man and society, in which the system cannot fail to explain dreams and leave gaps - it was previously understood that 'dreams are the irregular activity of nerve cells in the brain.' When people sleep, most nerve cells are inactive and in an inhibited state, while a few nerve cells are not inhibited and carry out irregular activities. This is the dream. So dreams have no meaning. It's a doodle of the brain. If you dream of being chased by dogs, it means nothing.'

The theory of psychoanalysis has put forward a new view on dreams, which has been proved to a certain extent by the successful practice of dream interpretation. Psychoanalytic theory suggests that there is another hidden meaning beneath the absurd and meaningless surface of dreams. Therefore, Zhou Gong's interpretation of dreams may not be scientific, but it is not superstitious.
